In the year of 2021, aspiring filmmaker Lucas Neagu started making his first steps in cinema, by writing his first screenplay. He also began collecting money for a big, ambitious independent feature film. That film would later become Timing.
Over the year of 2022 he directed no less than 3 short films. Hence, the BLUE YOUTH brand began under the banner of the film production company named BLUE YOUTH FILMS, dedicated to showcasing bold, expressive and thought-provoking cinema.
In 2023 Lucas recklessly began the production of Timing, his debut feature film. Production took place for 31 days in both Spring and Autumn, shooting in three countries: Romania, Greece and Italy.
In 2024 Timing was presented in cinemas nationwide and was selected for its first festival, the 36th edition of the Girona Film Festival in Spain, where it was awarded the Jury Prize. Lucas began developing his second feature that same year.
In 2025, BLUE YOUTH FILMS began production on the second feature of Lucas Neagu, ”Nothing More and Nothing Different”, along with completing an extra medium length documentary and two more short films. Lucas was nominated for his production and directorial efforts at the Gopo Awards for Best Newcomer. After some solid years of hard work, things were shaping up.
A new vision began. An international film festival, with the same values, the same principles and ambition as the productions that took place before. A filmmaker-based festival, that supports, promotes and presents unique young and independent voices that sometimes do not have enough exposure. That’s BLUE YOUTH, the new Curated International Film Festival.
