Timișoara, Romania — The inaugural edition of the BLUE YOUTH – Curated International Film Festival announces its Official Selection, a bold and diverse lineup of independent films that foreground emerging voices, daring storytelling, and contemporary global perspectives. Conceived as a response to increasingly impersonal and volume-driven festival models, BLUE YOUTH positions itself as a fully curated platform, where each selected film is individually evaluated and chosen for its artistic merit, authenticity, and originality.
The 2026 Official Selection brings together a wide range of international productions, spanning fiction, documentary and experimental cinema. World Premieres, Oscar-shortlisted films and indie hidden gems. Together, these films reflect the festival’s commitment to risk-taking, originality, and emotional authenticity, offering audiences a program that is both thought-provoking and globally relevant.

The development of BLUE YOUTH has been led by director and producer Lucas Neagu, whose direct involvement shapes the festival’s curatorial approach and institutional ethos. Drawing from his experience within the independent film circuit, Neagu established the festival with a focus on transparency, meaningful selection processes and genuine filmmaker support. His vision emphasizes quality over quantity, ensuring that each film in competition is given proper consideration and visibility.
Selected films will compete for the top-prizes, including Best Feature Film, Best Short Film and Best Director, among others. In addition to screenings, the festival will host Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, and industry-focused events, fostering dialogue between filmmakers, audiences, and professionals.

BLUE YOUTH is an international curated film festival dedicated to showcasing independent cinema and supporting emerging filmmakers. With a focus on artistic integrity, transparency and curation, the festival aims to create a meaningful platform for new voices in global filmmaking.
